Any Lenten journey along the path of God's choice of covenant would be incomplete without a pause in Exodus 20 - the Ten Commandments. Read in conjunction with our other Scripture reading, 1 Corinthains 1:18-25, we consider together how God chose a way that seems foolish to us, but that is more incredible than all the wisdom in the world. Our choir also offers a beautiful anthem, If You Love Me.

00:48 - First Scripture Reading - 1 Corinthians 1:18-25
01:55 - Choral Anthem - If You Love Me
06:01 - Second Scripture Reading - Exodus 20:1-17

We continue our journey through Lent by revisiting God's covenant with Abraham and Sarah in Genesis this week. Pastor Adam invites us to consider how God plays the long game - and how that means we become more like God, and God responds to our actions and incorporates them into his plan, through the covenant we share. Our choir also offers a beautiful anthem, and Mc closes the service with an incredible piano piece. Thanks for worshipping with us this week!

Welcome to the season of Lent at Farmville Baptist Church. Throughout this season of preparation for Good Friday and Easter, we are considering the way God works through relationships to share his love with us and with the world. In this episode, we look at the very first instance of covenant in the Scriptures: when God limited himself to be in relationship with Noah and all creation.
Please note: this episode is running late because of a technical issue on 2/18/24. We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope it will be able to help you experience God this Lenten season.

Hello and welcome to worship with the Farmville Baptist congregation! This week, we continue to consider how God made us creatures of time and how he calls us as creatures of time to be part of his kingdom plan. Key to that is an understanding of the different qualities of time - chronos and kairos - and how God was, in Jesus, initiating a new sort of time. This is the second in our sermon series on living as creatures of time and using well the days, so we hope you will join us for more times of reflection on this theme over the next few weeks.

03:05 - Second Scripture Reading - Mark 1:14-20

Happy New Year! As we gathered for the first Sunday of 2024, our congregation began a period of reflection on what it means to live as creatures of time. Pastor Adam led a meditation on how we live adrift on the tides of time, and how that may well be a blessing by God. This it the first in a new sermon series, so we hope you will join us for more times of reflection on this theme over the next few weeks.  The choir enhanced our worship experience with their anthem, "Come to the Water."
